The newly announced HPE-Nutanix partnership is designed to expand choices to customers for each company’s offering.
HPE’s GreenLake strategy is to lead the market by delivering a wide set of aaS offerings that leverage HPE solutions through a broad ecosystem of partners, including:
- HPE portfolio products like HPE SimpliVity
- Solutions from public cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft and Google
- Private cloud solutions based on VMware, Microsoft and Red Hat
- Popular software solutions, including Veeam, SAP, Hadoop, Commvault, Scality and now Nutanix
Nutanix’s strategy is to provide its customers with a range of consumption models that include a pay-as-you-go service (via HPE GreenLake) and the choice to run Nutanix Enterprise Cloud software across a range of popular server platforms.
This partnership announcement doesn’t mean HPE is moving away from HPE SimpliVity or the hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) market. HPE SimpliVity is the strategic, lead-with-HCI solution and a key element of their Composable Cloud portfolio. HPE continues to invest significantly in the HPE SimpliVity roadmap.
The Nutanix Enterprise Cloud OS software on HPE GreenLake and the integrated Nutanix DX product utilizing Nutanix software on HPE servers are expected to be available in calendar 3Q19. More information will be released in the near future.
